Now available, an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak from the 1980s in yellow gold.

Known as the “Royal Oak III”, the reference 4100 is a hugely important piece of the Royal Oak’s history. Designed by Jacqueline Dimier and presented in 1977, the reference 4100 is known as the Royal Oak III as it represented the third model in the Royal Oak collection, and was the first to be fit with a centre seconds hand.

The reference 4100 lends itself to those who enjoy a slightly smaller-than-traditional Royal Oak, and at 35mm in diameter, it sits extremely well on most wrists. More commonly seen in stainless steel or two-tone, the full yellow gold variant showcased here is incredibly special.

This particular example is unique in its complexity with tropical tones throughout the entirety of the dial, with the majority of its raised “Tapisserie” on the dial showing age, and turning gold-like in complexity, leaving its original grey dial colour on the lower sections. In razor sharp condition throughout, the case and bracelet for this 40+ year old watch is quite exceptional.
