Now available, a seldom-seen Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 4960J-001 in yellow gold - the smallest Aquanaut ever produced.

Whilst the larger Aquanaut references have rightly become some of Patek Philippe's most celebrated modern sports watches, few collectors realise the collection once extended all the way down to just 30mm. Produced from the late 1990s into the mid-2000s in both stainless steel and yellow gold, the reference 4960 quietly carved out its own place within the Aquanaut family, retaining every design cue that made the original such an icon, simply distilled into a wonderfully compact case. Today, they are seen only occasionally, yet possess a charm entirely their own.

This 2006 example is presented in beautifully honest, unpolished condition. Whilst showing the signs of a life well enjoyed, the case remains remarkably sharp and full, retaining its original proportions together with wonderfully crisp hallmarks throughout. Originally supplied by the prestigious Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons retailer in the Middle East, it is offered as a true complete set with its entirety of accessories from new.

One particularly charming detail lies within the clasp. Whilst the outer blades are correctly executed in matching yellow gold, the internal folding mechanism is crafted in white gold - a wonderfully over-engineered touch that perfectly encapsulates Patek Philippe's attention to detail. Although accompanied by its original black composite strap, we have chosen to pair the watch with a bright white strap for photography - a combination that transforms its character and makes it, in our opinion, the ultimate summer Aquanaut.
