Whilst the stainless steel references have historically stolen much of the attention within the Nautilus collection, the white gold 5712 has always been something of a sleeper in our eyes. Produced in comparatively small numbers and now discontinued, it is a reference that is seldom encountered on the open market despite offering one of the most distinctive and elegant interpretations of the Nautilus design.

The asymmetrical dial layout has become synonymous with the 5712, combining a moonphase display, pointer date, subsidiary seconds and power reserve indicator into a composition that somehow remains perfectly balanced. Executed in white gold and paired with its signature slate grey dial, the watch carries an understated character entirely absent from its stainless steel counterpart. It is unmistakably luxurious without ever demanding attention.

Perhaps our favourite aspect of the reference, however, is its versatility. Delivered by Patek Philippe with both an alligator leather strap and a rubber hybrid strap, the watch effortlessly transitions between formal and casual settings. Whilst both factory options accompany this example, we have chosen to pair it with a beautiful blue canvas strap from the reference 5822P. In our opinion, it complements the cool tones of the white gold beautifully, whilst picking up the deep blue hues of the moonphase display in a wonderfully subtle way.

Dating to 2012, this particular example is presented in exceptional overall condition, showing little to no signs of wear throughout. It is offered complete with its entirety of accessories from new, including both original factory straps, its Certificate of Origin, presentation box and accompanying literature.
