Now available, a quietly special and often overlooked Calatrava: the Patek Philippe reference 3992J-001 in yellow gold.

At first glance, it is quintessentially Patek - restrained, elegant, and impeccably balanced - yet the details reward closer inspection. The hobnail Clous de Paris bezel immediately stands out, a design language that feels strikingly familiar today thanks to the modern ref. 6119, yet here executed with a softer, more classical touch. While many 3992J examples are found with white dials and Roman numerals, this variant is altogether more compelling in our eyes. The off-white, almost cream lacquer dial has a subtle porcelain or enamel-like quality, beautifully complemented by slim applied baton indices and the presence of a sigma signature at six o’clock, underscoring its precious metal construction.

Dating to the late 1990s, this example is offered with its original box, and remarkably remains in almost new old stock condition. It appears to have seen little, if any, wear, remaining completely unpolished with the crispiest of hallmarks still present on the case flank and inside the pin buckle. Turning the watch over reveals another delightful surprise: beneath the solid yellow gold caseback beats Patek Philippe’s calibre 240, an ultra-thin automatic movement powered by a micro-rotor, lending the watch both technical pedigree and elegant proportions on the wrist.

A refined, versatile Calatrava that works just as effortlessly as a daily companion as it does for more formal occasions - and a reminder that some of Patek Philippe’s most charming references are those that fly quietly under the radar.

The watch is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. Please get in touch for further information.
