Reserved before we had the chance to launch it for sale, a beautifully preserved Audemars Piguet Bamboo in yellow gold, fitted with one of the most captivating dial configurations the model ever received - a flawless factory onyx dial set with diamond hour markers.

The Bamboo has always stood apart within AP’s non-Royal Oak catalogue: slender, architectural, and slightly eccentric in the best possible way. Its signature tubular bracelet links, paired with the stepped case middle, create a tactile rhythm that feels almost jewellery-like on the wrist. This example features the micro-adjustment clasp that disappears seamlessly into the bracelet - a detail collectors now actively hunt for - and the bracelet construction secured by screws rather than pins, allowing for it to be sized easily.

The dial however is the showpiece. AP’s onyx plates from this era were notoriously difficult to manufacture and even harder to preserve without fractures or blemishes. Here, the surface is flawless: a deep, mirror-like black that behaves almost like a pool of still water. Against it, the gold handset and diamond markers appear to float, giving the watch a quiet, luxurious presence that reveals itself slowly.

From 1996 and accompanied by its original paperwork, this Bamboo has aged gracefully. The gold shows a soft, even patina throughout - exactly the kind of natural warmth that makes vintage precious-metal AP so charming. A rare and beautifully balanced expression of 1990s Audemars Piguet design, and one of the most elegant dial executions the Bamboo line ever saw.
