Throughout the life of the yellow-gold reference 118138, Rolex essentially gave collectors two distinct personalities: this vibrant green dial or the rich cognac-bronze alternative. Both are beautiful, but for us there has only ever been one choice. Green has long been synonymous with Rolex, and when paired with a yellow-gold Day-Date, fluted bezel and matching green alligator strap, the result is one of the most quintessentially Rolex watches ever produced.

At 36mm, the Day-Date remains the size by which all others are judged. Equally at home beneath a shirt cuff as it is worn casually with linen or knitwear, it is a watch that never feels overdone. The proportions are timeless, the President lineage needs little introduction, and the overall combination of yellow gold, green and the Day-Date complication is, to us, about as perfect as Rolex gets.
