Now available, a possibly unique Patek Philippe World Time in platinum.

There is little not to love of a Patek Philippe World Time, and even more so the now-discontinued reference 5130. More curvaceous than its successor (ref. 5230), the watch hugs the wrist effortlessly, and in our opinion at least, is far more attractive to look at than the more sharp and angular modern iteration. The 5130 truly is a tremendous travel companion thanks to its ultra-thin self-winding movement within, which allows the wearer permanent track of the time in all 24 time zones.

Touching on the “unique” claim, this isn’t any ordinary 5130P-020. From new, the original owner of the watch requested to have white-coloured hands fitted to the watch by Patek Philippe, as opposed to the polished white gold hands that the watch would come as standard with, due to the original owner finding it difficult to read the time with the factory hands. As such, albeit retaining the same production reference number as other examples, the watch is very possibly unique.

Looking at the “020” of the reference number, this is in fact a very short production reference. Coming right at the end of the 5130P production run, the “020”, which is the dial code, was only in production for two years, 2013 to 2014. These variants, when compared to the “001”, featured a darker blue central hand-guilloched motif, a matching-coloured strap, and also a slight update in the dial as we see “Riyadh” instead of “Dubai” around the world time display.

Having been worn just a handful of times from new and remaining unpolished, this is likely one of the very last 5130P-020 references to be sold at the end of 2014, shortly before the watch was discontinued. A pure time capsule of excellence, and unique, the watch comes complete with its entirety of accessories from new, and is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide.
