Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar
3940J-001
£47,500
Now available, an exceptional Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar in yellow gold.
The 3940 is often considered one of the most important Patek Philippe references. Not just for its technical achievement, but for what it represented: a quiet defiance of the Quartz era, and a reaffirmation of haute horlogerie values. Slim, elegant, and mechanically brilliant, it marked a turning point for the brand when it was introduced in 1985, and quickly became a favourite among collectors, and even within the Stern family itself.
This example is from the second series, most notably characterised by its extremely sought after and beautiful serif typeface across the calendar registers, a subtle but deeply appreciated detail that gives the dial even more character and visual charm. At just 36mm and under 9mm thick, the 3940 wears with an effortlessness that few modern perpetual calendars can match, and remains one of the finest expressions of Patek’s ultra-thin complications.
Most notably, the condition of this particular example is quite extraordinary. Unpolished throughout, the all-important hallmarks on the case are absolutely razor sharp, and visible from a mile away. Furthermore, the dial is flawless.
Coming as a watch-only, the watch is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. Please get in touch for further information.
