Now available, an exceptional Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 5066A-001 in stainless steel.

Despite having handled a number of 5066s over the past few months, we still get excited every time one arrives on our desk. Introduced during the early years of the Aquanaut, the 5066 retains so much of the charm that makes these early Aquanaut references increasingly desirable, with its wonderfully compact proportions, slim profile and distinctive grenade-pattern dial. At just over 36mm, it wears completely differently to the modern Aquanaut, and remains one of our favourite ways into the earlier generation of the collection.

This particular example is an incredibly late-production watch, originally sold in London in July 2007 and, as you would expect from its age, fitted with a Super-LumiNova dial and hands. It remains in exceptional overall condition, showing remarkably little evidence of wear, and is currently paired with a brand-new green Tropical rubber strap. For those wanting something a little different, there are a further 18 colours to choose from.

What really sets this example apart, however, is its completeness. The watch retains its entirety of accessories from new, including its original UK Certificate of Origin, swing tag, presentation box and even the cardboard outer sleeve protecting its leather document folder. These are the small details so often lost over almost two decades of ownership, and finding them all still together makes this a collector’s set through and through.
