Now available, an exceptionally rare and early F.P.Journe Chronomètre Bleu.

One of the most in-demand watches in the world right now, it’s easy to mistake the Chronomètre Bleu as just another time-only offering from the independent manufacturer. However, it is so much more than that.

Its case is crafted out of Tantalum, an extremely innovative and rare dark grey metal with blue overtones. It is known for its extremely high resistance to corrosion and wear, as well as being notoriously difficult to work with due to its density, which is why it is rarely used in watchmaking.

As special as its case is, it is the dial of the watch which is the star of the show here. Described as “blue chrome” by the brand, it is quite simply mesmerising to look at. Its mirror-like dial certainly makes it one of the more difficult watches to photograph, yet in person it is exceptionally legible thanks to its large Arabic numerals and cream-coloured hands. Due to this dial, as well as its incredibly hard-to-work-with case material, the brand are rumoured to produce less than fifty examples of CB a year, and talk of the model being discontinued soon remains prominent amongst collectors.

This particular example is categorised as a very early “first series” example, and was produced within the first twenty serial numbers of the CB, giving it an almost “souscription” feel to it, and its collectibility factor is high, as it does fall within a trend we have noticed recently with collectors focussing on very early CBs.

Having been worn throughout its life, but never refinished nor opened, the watch is running exceptionally well, and comes fully complete with its entirety of accessories from new. Included within the sale is also a complimentary manufacturer service and refinish, which can be used as and when desired by its new owner. The set is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. Please get in touch for further information.
