Cartier Cloche "13 Rue de la Paix"
WHCC0009
£69,950
Now available, an exceptionally rare Cartier Cloche “13 Rue de la Paix” in platinum - one of the brand’s most elusive modern creations.
Among seasoned Cartier collectors, few categories inspire more quiet obsession than the maison’s special retail editions. Produced in tiny quantities for select markets and VVIP clients, these pieces sit outside the familiar arc of CPCP or historic pre-’70s designs. They are, instead, Cartier at its most discreet and most deliberate - where iconic forms are subtly reimagined for those already deep inside the fold.
This Cloche is exactly that. Rendered in platinum and capped with a ruby cabochon, the watch retains the playful asymmetry of the original bell-shaped silhouette while refining it with a jeweller’s lightness of touch. From the front, the case reads almost architectural: a flared shoulder, a crisp arch, and a geometry that feels simultaneously classical and mischievous - the sort of design tension Cartier has always handled better than anyone.
The salmon dial is a particularly elegant counterpoint to the weight of the metal, and its layout balances codes both expected and surprising. Pomme hands and Roman numerals anchor the design, while the signature “13” at twelve o’clock nods directly to the maison’s legendary Parisian address. On the Cloche, that single, curved numeral feels almost sculptural - an intentional echo of the case profile. This tribute to Cartier’s historic home extends to the reverse as well, where the caseback is engraved with 13 Rue de la Paix, echoing the Maison’s most storied address.
Inside is Cartier’s hand-wound 1917 MC, a slim, purpose-built calibre designed to accommodate the eccentric geometries of shaped cases. Quiet, refined, and perfectly matched to the object it serves.
Unworn, and complete with its full presentation set and matching cufflinks, the watch is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. A true connoisseur’s Cartier - produced in vanishingly small numbers and rarely surfacing in this state. Please get in touch for further information.
