Now available, a particularly special example of the Blancpain Villeret Split-Seconds Chronograph in platinum.

This exquisite and incredibly refined chronograph represents Blancpain at its mechanical and aesthetic peak during the rebirth of the brand under Jean-Claude Biver’s direction in the late 1980s and early 1990s. While already an impressive reference in its own right, this particular piece stands apart as one of the very earliest known examples - bearing an elusive “No. 4” inscription on the dial, seen only on the first handful of watches produced.

The manually wound caliber 1186 inside is a beautifully constructed rattrapante movement, demonstrating the maison’s commitment to traditional hand-finished haute horlogerie in an era increasingly turning toward mass production. The 34mm platinum case, elegantly proportioned and balanced, frames a crisp white dial with Roman numerals and subtle symmetry that evoke the timeless purity of the Villeret line.

Remarkably, the reference carried a retail price of CHF 47,000 in January 1991, underscoring just how seriously Blancpain positioned its craftsmanship even three decades ago. An important early example of one of Blancpain’s most sophisticated creations, this “No. 4” Villeret Split-Seconds Chronograph offers both historical significance and enduring refinement in equal measure.

In exceptional overall condition with deep, crisp engravings and hallmarks on its rear, and a flawless dial, the watch comes as a watch-only, and is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. Please get in touch for further information.
