Now available, an extremely rare and important first-series Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Skeleton in yellow gold, reference 25636BA.

Launched in 1986, the 25636 was the very first series-produced skeletonised perpetual calendar wristwatch - a technical and aesthetic milestone for both Audemars Piguet and the Royal Oak line. This example is from the highly desirable first series, identifiable by its straight hand stack, smaller sub-dials, and distinctive typography - subtle details that seasoned collectors immediately recognise.

Cased in 18-carat yellow gold and measuring just 8.3mm thick, it houses the ultra-thin calibre 2120/2800 - based on the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre 920 ébauche - fully openworked and exquisitely finished by hand. Viewed through sapphire crystals front and back, the movement’s bridges and wheels create a mechanical tapestry that’s as captivating as the complication itself.

It’s estimated that just 264 examples of the 25636 were produced across all metals, of which 126 pieces were made in yellow gold - and far fewer still belong to this earliest production run. For many collectors, this scarcity, combined with the historical importance of the model, places the first-series 25636BA among the most desirable Royal Oaks ever made.

In exeptional overall condition, with a razor sharp case and bezel and absolutely zero bracelet stretch, the watch comes with its original Quantième Perpétual winding box, which is a statement of its own, and further benefits from a recent Audemars Piguet service. Within the service, the watch’s Extract from the Archives was also obtained, confirming its matching-numbers and year of sale, being 1987. This important early Royal Oak is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. Please get in touch for further information.
