Now available, a seldom-seen Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reference 14800BA in yellow gold, featuring an incredibly rare white Roman numeral dial.

The 14800 is one of those wonderfully obscure neo-vintage Royal Oaks that seems to encapsulate so much of what makes this period of Audemars Piguet interesting. Mid-sized, automatic and beautifully proportioned, it takes the familiar architecture of the Royal Oak and presents it in a rather unusual form, with a yellow gold case paired with a leather strap and folding clasp. Perhaps most surprisingly, the reference even features a screw-down crown, giving what is otherwise quite an elegant execution some of the practicality associated with the traditional Royal Oak.

What makes this particular example especially interesting, however, is its dial. The 14800 is more commonly encountered with petite tapisserie dials and applied baton markers, while this incredibly crisp white dial appears to be extraordinarily rare from our research. Its elongated black Roman numerals create a striking contrast against the crisp white dial, matched beautifully by the slender black hands and discreet date aperture at 3 o’clock. The result is unlike almost any other Royal Oak of the period, and paired here with a bespoke taupe calf-leather strap, we think it looks absolutely fantastic.

The watch shows honest wear throughout its yellow gold case, yet importantly retains beautifully preserved engravings and deep hallmarks to both the caseback and original folding clasp. Coming as a watch only, this is a wonderfully unusual example of a reference we rarely encounter, made considerably more special by one of the most distinctive dial configurations we have seen on a neo-vintage Royal Oak. The watch is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide. Please get in touch for further information.
