Now available, a Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph reference 5980/1R-001 in rose gold.

Introduced as the first chronograph within the Nautilus family, the reference 5980 has become a modern classic in its own right. Despite the added complication, its dial remains beautifully balanced, with the chronograph indications cleverly concentrated within a single counter at six o'clock. In full rose gold, the warmth of its case and bracelet contrasts beautifully against the dark gradient dial, creating a watch with tremendous presence whilst retaining the elegance and wearability that make the Nautilus so enduring.

Following a long production run, the 5980/1R has now been discontinued, making the very last examples particularly interesting. This 2022 watch features the much-desired updated button-operated folding clasp, an important evolution introduced towards the end of production and one that has become increasingly sought after amongst collectors. It is a small but significant detail, combining the final-generation specification of the reference with the wonderfully clean design that made the 5980 so successful in the first place.

This particular example comes to us from its original owner in completely unworn condition, retaining factory stickers within the clasp and remaining fully complete with its entirety of accessories from new. Late, unworn and fitted with the updated clasp, it represents exactly the specification we would hope to find when searching for an exceptional 5980/1R.
