Patek Philippe Aquanaut
5066J-001
£59,500
Now available, a neo-vintage Patek Philippe Aquanaut reference 5066J-001 in yellow gold.
Having had the pleasure of procuring a number of early Aquanaut references over the past few months, this marks our first in precious metal - and it completely transforms the proposition. The warmth of yellow gold brings a richness to the Aquanaut’s otherwise utilitarian design, offering something far more expressive whilst retaining all of its everyday versatility.
This particular example is a lovely early piece, manufactured in 1999 and sold in 2000, and retains the highly desirable tritium dial. Each hour marker has aged beautifully, developing a tone that sits almost perfectly in harmony with the surrounding yellow gold case. Following a service with Patek Philippe in 2023, the watch was fitted with Super-LumiNova hands, which still pair wonderfully with the dial and maintain excellent legibility.
The watch is equally strong in its overall offering - complete with its original Certificate of Origin, booklets, and box. The case and clasp remain in exceptional condition, with deep and well-preserved hallmarks to the rear of the lugs and inside the clasp, a testament to how carefully this piece has been looked after over the past quarter century.
As with the earliest Aquanaut references, the 5066J can be paired with an array of strap colours directly from Patek Philippe, offering the ability to completely transform its character. That said, we’ve chosen to showcase it here on its original black strap - a timeless and fitting choice. A fantastic and increasingly collectible early Aquanaut, and a particularly special one in yellow gold. The watch is available for viewing in London and purchase worldwide.
