Reserved before we even had the chance to advertise it, a Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time reference 5134G-001 - an elegant and quietly complicated reference that perfectly embodies the brand’s understated approach to practical horology.

Housed in a perfectly judged 37mm white gold case, the reference 5134 retains all of the classical Calatrava hallmarks, from its elegant proportions to its applied Breguet numerals and finely sculpted feuille hands. At a glance it appears traditionally simple, yet beneath the surface lies Patek Philippe’s ingenious Travel Time mechanism. The primary hour hand displays local time, whilst the hidden secondary hour hand indicates home time. The local time can be advanced forwards or backwards independently via the discreet pushers integrated into the case flank. When not in use, this local hand can sit directly above the home hour hand - preserving the dial’s symmetry and restraint. Complementing this, the subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock provides constant motion and balance, whilst the 24-hour indicator at 12 o’clock offers clear distinction between day and night for the home time zone - an especially thoughtful detail for frequent travellers.
